Enjoy Your Damn Coffee!

I used to visit Starbucks every day, 365 days a year. Many Starbucks are open even on major holidays if enough employees volunteer, so I took full advantage of the year around opportunity to feed my addiction.

Now I probably go to a Starbucks once or twice a week on average. That’s mostly because I live farther away now, but I still enjoy the coffee and getting out of the house since I work at home. I also visit other coffee shops, but much less often, for the same reasons. It’s a change of scenery and the coffee always tastes better in a social setting. It just gets me in the right mindset to tackle the day.

It’s legal crack. It’s delicious. It stimulates the mind and body. And with this stimulant you can still achieve your financial goals.

When we view our finances we need to look at the entire picture, not just one expenditure or one splurge. Of course too many splurges and too many expenses can lead to financial disaster but that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about a simple pleasure that adds value and enjoyment to your life. There are likely many more expenses you would be willing to cut and you wouldn’t miss them at all. Those are the low hanging fruit you should first focus on.
